Regions outside of Bordeaux continued to hold the spotlight this week as several key releases were announced from Italy and the New World. Bordeaux’s trade share dropped back below 70%, and Champagne and Italy continued to power ahead. Bordeaux First Growths represented 32% of all trade: a drop on last week but still above the weekly average for the year.

Champagne’s trade share was boosted by high levels of activity for the recently released Taittinger, Comtes 2006, described by Antonio Galloni as “nothing short of magnificent both times I have tasted it” (97+). From Italy, Sassicaia continued to feature in the tables, this week with its 2010 vintage (96 AG).
