While the Liv-ex Fine Wine 50 Index ran flat, both value (+53%) and volume (+31%) traded on the Exchange were up on the previous week. Although Bordeaux’s trade share remained below 70%, activity for the First Growths increased, with the five Premier Crus accounting for 39.8% of all trade by value.

Mouton Rothschild and Haut Brion – the two Chateaux that have climbed the most since the market’s low – were the most active First Growths, taking 13.8% and 12% of all trade respectively. Two Haut Brion vintages joined Mouton Rothschild 2000 in the table of the most traded individual wines.

Champagne’s high trade share was boosted by high levels of activity in Salon, Mesnil 1999 – and for the second week in a row, the recently released Taittinger 2006.
