Petrus releases its 2014

Petrus_2014

Petrus has now released its 2014 vintage, and as the Drinks Business reported it is being offered in the UK at £6,810 per 6×75, or £13,620 per 12×75. (The wine does not release via la Place de Bordeaux).

Petrus 2014 is currently cheaper than all recent back vintages, and also scores more highly than several. It receives 93-95 from Neal Martin, who commented that although “it does not have the length of a top tier vintage […] there is real class here”. James Suckling was more effusive, awarding it 95-96 and noting the wine’s “marvellous potential”, while James Molesworth described it as “thoroughly beguiling” and gave 95-98.  On a relative basis, the price would seem to make sense for those lucky few who receive an allocation.
