Following on from last week’s yearly low, Bordeaux’s trade share dipped further, falling to 54.5%. Nevertheless the Liv-ex 50 edged up 0.2% – it is now up 0.5% in June and 1% over the last 12 months.
Italy continued to push ahead, accounting for a quarter of weekly trade. Sassicaia topped both the value and volume tables with its 2012 vintage, while its second wine San Guido Guidalberto saw its 2011 as one of the week’s most traded wines. Argiano Brunello di Montalcino 2010 saw renewed demand after a popular beginning to the year, and Ornellaia 2011 also traded well.
Beyond Bordeaux and Italy, Champagne saw its share boosted by Mesnil 2002 and also the latest release from Louis Roederer Cristal, the 2007. Meanwhile “other” regions – which includes America – took an untypically high share of trade this week due to interest in two of Parker’s 100-point Screaming Eagles, the 2007 and 2010.
