Although the week seemed dominated by talk of the En Primeur campaign, Margaux was the only Bordeaux 2014 to trade on Liv-ex. Other 2014s have failed to spark demand on the secondary market. Despite the lack of interest in the latest vintage, Bordeaux trade by value nonetheless remained above 80%. On the back of Robert Parker’s report on the Bordeaux 2012 in-bottle there was good activity for several 2012s, including Lafite and Angelus, which were among the week’s most traded wines.
With Parker’s ten-year retrospective due later this year, the Bordeaux 2005s continued to find buyers: Cos d’Estournel made both of the week’s top tables. At £1,370 per 12×75 it is also trading for 20% more than it was at the start of the year. Meanwhile, following a spate of activity in March, Sassicaia’s second wine San Guido Guidalberto returned to the top traded by volume table.
