Leoville Poyferre has been released at €44.4 per bottle ex-negociant, up 15.9% on 2013 (€38.4) and up 3% on 2012 (€43.2). It is available from merchants at £430 per 12×75, placing it at around the same level as the 2008 and 2011 which are already in bottle – and both have higher scores of 94 points. Both of these appear to offer relative value.

Leoville Poyferre was voted joint third favourite 2014 of the sub-£500 category (with Domaine de Chevalier – released this morning) by Liv-ex members in the annual En Primeur survey, while Neal Martin called it “one of the most decadent Saint Julien wines”. Will collectors share the enthusiasm of the trade and buy this wine?
