First tranche of Lafite 2014 released

EP_Lafite Rothschild

The first tranche of Lafite Rothschild 2014 has been released at €288 per bottle ex-negociant, the same price as the 2013 and down 14% on the 2012 (€335). This is likely to be about 50% of the total stock that negociants will receive, with ensuing tranches more expensive. Lafite 2014 is expected to be offered in the UK for £3,000 per 12×75, making it cheaper than all vintages bar the 2013. With critic scores universally in the mid-90s, the wine looks good compared to its older siblings. A merchant release price of £3,000 represents a discount of 33% and 37.5% on the current market prices of the 2006 and 2008 respectively - well ahead of the 25% discount where 2014 releases have been finding a market.
