Calon Segur continued today’s releases, coming out at €42 per bottle ex-negociant, up 12.9% on 2013 (€37.2) and up 9.1% on 2012 (€38.5). With a merchant release price of £420 per 12×75, it is the second cheapest vintage available on the market: the 2013 is cheaper. With a score of 91-93 from Neal Martin who would have preferred a more limited use of oak in this “terroir-driven vintage”, it is on par with a number of back vintages that have since appreciated in value. Other critics were more generous with their scores including James Suckling who awarded it 93-94 points and Jean-Marc Quarin who gave 95. The wine was also popular amongst Liv-ex members who voted it second best ‘value wine’ in the Liv-ex members survey.
