Palmer was released today at €160 per bottle ex-negociant, up 6.7% on last year’s release (€150) and at the same price as the 2012. Being offered at £1,500 per 12×75, it is not currently the cheapest vintage on the market. Of the back vintages, the 2004, 2006, 2007 and 2008 appear to offer better value to the buyer: they have similar scores, several years in bottle and are up to 22% cheaper than today’s 2014 release.

Chateau Palmer’s second wine, Alter Ego, was also released today. It is being offered at €38.5 ex-negociant, up 7% on the 2013 (€36) and up 2.7% on the 2012 (€37.5). It has opened at £370 per 12×75, making it cheaper than each of its back vintages previous to 2011 and with a critic score on par with the 2009 and 2010.
