Amidst optimism about the direction of the market for Bordeaux, this week saw good activity for the region: its share bounced back to 83% and the First Growths took a strong 27% of trade by value. The Liv-ex Fine Wine 50 held steady while the bid:offer ratio remained above the all-important 0.5.

Bordeaux dominated both the top value and top volume charts: it was the only region to feature this week. Cos d’Estournel 2005 took both top spots after seeing prices rise since the beginning of the year. On January 6th it traded at £1,155 per 12×15; today it traded at £1,395. Neal Martin recently upgraded his score of the wine from 94 to 96. Is it seeing the ripple effect of the recent reviews of Bordeaux 2005?

The top volume chart this week featured Fleur Morange 2009 and Quinault L’enclos 2009: two lesser value wines from good vintages.
