The Liv-ex 1000 index closed December on 242.74, down 0.25% on November, as a number of sub-indices outside Bordeaux lost momentum. Despite Champagne accounting for over 5% of trade in December, the Champagne 50 was the worst performer, down 1.28%. The Rhone 100 and Burgundy 150 fell 1.1% and 1.0% respectively.

For the second month in a row, the index was buoyed by Bordeaux. The Bordeaux 500 – which saw the steepest declines in the first half of the year – was the top performer, rising 0.6%. Of the remaining sub-indices, only the Rest of the World 50 saw a gain, up a slight 0.03%. While all other sub-indices closed 2014 with a year-on-year loss, the Rest of the World 50 rose 2.9%.
