Following declines in the first half of 2014, the second half of the year saw rises for all but one of the Bordeaux 500 sub-indices. The Left Bank 200 rose furthest since June, climbing 3.8%. The Second Wine 50 also performed well, up 2.1% in the latter half of the year while the Right Bank 100 and Fine Wine 50 indices saw smaller gains of 1.0% and 0.2% respectively: promising signs after a long period of decline.

Since June, 19 of the 20 brands included in the Left Bank 200 gained, with only Cos d'Estournel dropping a slight 0.3%. Haut Bailly was the strongest performer within this sub-index, rising 11.6%. Montrose also performed well, up 8.4% on June. Both of these brands saw upgrades from Robert Parker in the second half of 2014: Haut Baily 2009 and 2005 were awarded 100 and 98 points respectively in November, while Montrose 2010 and 2005 were upgraded to 100 and 96 points in August.
