Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 index rises 0.3%

Liv-ex 100_November

The Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 index has risen for the fourth month in a row. It closed November on 238.58, up 0.3% on the previous month. The Liv-ex Fine Wine 50, meanwhile, drifted in the last week of the month to close on 264.65, down 0.2% on October.

As might be expected when approaching the festive season, Champagne was at the top of the Liv-ex 100 movers. Older, more affordable wines also saw positive price movements, including 96-point Pichon Lalande 1996 and 97-point Lynch Bages 2000. The price rise of Haut Brion 2008 followed a trend that we have documented in our weekly Talking Trade blogs: increased activity for “off-vintage” First Growths. At the other end of the table, “on-vintage” Bordeaux suffered, with the 2009s and 2010s falling the furthest.

November levels for the Liv-ex Fine Wine 1000 and its sub-indices will be released tomorrow.
