Haut Brion 2013 – low enough?

Haut Brion 2013

With Latour no longer selling En Primeur, Haut Brion was the final First Growth to release its 2013 today. At €215 per bottle ex-negociant and with a UK release price of £2,400 per 12×75, it joins Margaux and Mouton – yet does not look quite as enticing. Many of Haut Brion’s back vintages are at a similar level, with the 2013 only 2% cheaper than the 2006 (RP 96), 4% cheaper than the 2004 (RP 92) and 7% cheaper than the 2008 (RP 96).

So far, only the First Growths and their second wines have found a secondary market; it remains to be seen as to whether Haut Brion joins them. But if this is as low as First Growth releases are going to go, then looking at Haut Brion's back vintages would seem to make sense.
