Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 Index falls 1.75%

Liv-ex 100_Sept

The Liv-ex indices
fell in September, taking the Liv-ex 100 and Liv-ex 50 to their lowest monthly closing levels
in 2013 (but still up 2.7% and 2.1% respectively year to date). The Liv-ex Fine
Wine 100 closed the month on 267.95, down 1.75%, while the Liv-ex 50 fell
1.87%. Levels for all Liv-ex indices can be seen here.

There were
few buying trends in September, and only a handful of wines in the Liv-ex 100 saw
significant positive price moves. Burgundy was both top and bottom of the pack,
with Rousseau Clos St Jacques 2009 rising 10% and Tache 2005 falling 10%.

Yquem 2007 saw
its price rise on the back of the 2011 release – not surprising given its
higher critic score and lower price.  Also
on the up in a relatively weak market is off-vintage but high scoring Petrus.
