Released at a
point when the market was close to its peak, the Bordeaux 2010s came out at
record prices. Since then they have been under pressure and prices have been dropping:
Lafite 2010, for example, was released in London at £12,000 per 12×75 but is now
trading at £6,400.
Two wines that
appear to have found the right level for buyers are Pontet Canet and Pape
Clement 2010. Both have seen a recent pick up in trade. What these wines have
in common is a 100 point score from Robert Parker. Their prices peaked when his in-bottle scores were released in March, but have dropped back since. With Pontet Canet at £1,475 and Pape Clement at £1,330 they are two of the cheapest
100 point red Bordeaux available – thus the willingness of buyers to step up and pay the offer price (dotted blue on the charts).
