The Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 index ran flat in August, posting a fall of just 0.09%. The Liv-ex 50 was similarly in stasis, gaining 0.02% to
close the month on 314.37. Full levels of the Liv-ex indices can be seen here.

August was Italy’s month, with Antonio Galloni’s praise for
the 2010s putting the spotlight on to the Super Tuscans. The region took a
record share of Liv-ex trade of 10%, and will be covered in the Cellar Watch
September Market
Report
(released later this week). Consequently Ornellaia 2009 jumped to
the top spot in our Liv-ex 100 movers table (below), with an impressive 13%
increase, and Sassicaia 2006 and 2008 also saw substantial price moves.

At the other end of the table Bordeaux saw the biggest drops,
though many price dips were arbitrary in a month that saw little index movement
and when volumes were typically light.
