50 advanced in the first quarter of the year it was the more affordable First
Growths that led the field: Mouton, Haut Brion, and Margaux. By definition, these brands posed the least downside risk.
Since then, Mouton has held while the rest of the market has drifted. Breaking it down by vintage, its best performing wine year to date has been its 2000 (LWIN 10135442000) which has risen 13%. Despite being Mouton's most expensive vintage in the Liv-ex 50, the 2000's striking black and gold ram
design has ensured that the wine has continued to prove popular in Asia, and belied market
trends.
