Steady trade for 2010s

By March 19, 2013Bordeaux, Regions

Since the release of the
2010 in-bottle scores, Pontet Canet (LWIN 10143072010)
and Pape Clement (LWIN 10136902010)
have generated the most trade by volume out of the Bordeaux 2010s. Fellow 100-point scorer Cheval Blanc (LWIN 10081082010)
has accounted for the most trade by value, but has seen limited
price movement. Trading at £7,940 per 12×75 on Liv-ex, the 2010 is the most
expensive of Cheval’s last ten physical vintages.

As seen from the charts
below, the price for Pontet Canet 2010 had already begun to rise before the end
of 2012: since then it has lifted by 30%, with current trades at around £1,600.
Montrose (LWIN 10132962010), too, has seen several trades in March and is close to the £1,600
mark.

Meanwhile the chart for Pichon
Baron (LWIN 10141632010)
demonstrates the power of Parker. With many anticipating that the wine would be
awarded 100 points, prices rocketed before the scores were released and it traded
for £1,845. This dropped once it was revealed that Pichon was not one of Parker’s
perfect 2010s. Yet with solid scores across the board – 95 from James Suckling
and 97 from Jean-Marc Quarin – it has continued to prove popular, and is now
trading for a more modest £1,500.

These individual wine
charts (with trade data available at 6 month, 12 month, 2 year and 5 year
intervals, as well as a full history) can be accessed by  Liv-ex trade members and Cellar Watch users.
