Since the release of the critic scores – and in particular
Robert Parker’s scores – the Bordeaux 2010s
have seen steady trade on Liv-ex. Currently they account for 13% of all March Bordeaux
trade by value: this is still behind the 2009s (with 14%) but significantly
higher than any levels of trade they have seen in the last year.
The table below shows top 2010s traded by volume in March. As
you can see, five of Parker’s ten perfect wines have traded, but Le Dome (LWIN 10094242010)
– short in supply and hard to find – and Latour (LWIN
10123162010) have seen limited activity. While the former has shot
in price, the latter has only seen a marginal change: trading for £11,500 per
12×75, the 2010 is the most expensive of Latour’s recent vintages.
When we reviewed trade for the 2009s in March
2012, wines that had found buyers included several First Growths. But with
many feeling that the quality of the 2010s is already in the price, buyers are
seeking bargains at the lower end of the price range. The more affordable 100
point wines Pape Clement 2010 (LWIN 10136902010)
and Pontet Canet 2010 (LWIN 10143072010) have accounted for the most trade, and prices have risen to meet
demand.
