After falling for five consecutive months, the Liv-ex 100 posted
its first month-on-month increase since February. Rising 1.09 points, it
concluded the month at 258.78 – up 0.43% on July, but down 9.6% since the start
of the year.

In the Liv-ex 100 movers’ table July’s winner was one
of August's fallers, as DRC Tache 2005 (LWIN
1028704
) fell from £28,500 to £26,102 – even lower than its June mid-price. A mixture of
First Growth wines moved upwards; their relative success was reflected by the
Liv-ex 50 posting its first month-on-month increase (of 0.17%) since March. Nevertheless,
Latour (LWIN 1012316)
and Lafite (LWIN 1011872)
also had a vintage in the five fallers, alongside super Right Bank
wine Cheval Blanc 2000 (LWIN 1008108) and Cristal 2002 (LWIN 1082542).
