Vieux Chateau Certan overcomes 2011 apathy

After pausing for Vinexpo last week, the 2011 campaign has resumed at last. Ducru Beaucaillou, Evangile, Talbot, Vieux Chateau Certan and Las Cases were among the bevy of late releases. But with older vintages available at lower prices, and the campaign in general generating limited interest, most of the wines have failed to find a market. 

Vieux Chateau Certan is the only new release that has traded on Liv-ex. At £970, the 2011's success can probably be attributed to the fact that it is the cheapest high-scoring vintage of VCC on the market. Several critics have awarded the wine more than 95 points, including James Suckling. This can be seen from the chart below.
