After stalling towards the end of last week, the 2010 campaign picked up again today with the release of Gruaud Larose and Haut Batailley. The wines' 2010 opening prices are shown below.
Gruaud Larose €45 p/b ex-negociant: +14.2 per cent on 2009 (€39.4), +32 per cent on 2005 (€34)
Haut Batailley €27.5 p/b ex-negociant: +17 per cent on 2009 (€23.5), +28 per cent on 2005 (€21.5)
Despite its premium price, Gruaud Larose appears to have been well received. The Second Growth fetched £510 per 12x75cl case this afternoon - 13 per cent higher than current '09 list prices. Liv-ex trading members can view live markets here.
Are other big releases waiting in the wings? With Vinexpo just two weeks away, Mathieu Chadronnier, Managing Director of major negociants Dourthe, told Decanter that he predicts "an incredible number of releases over the next few days."
