The wait is on for the last of the Left Banks to join their peers on the other side of the curtain. Today's most talked-about releases include Haut Brion and its second wine, Clarence Haut Brion. Though the latter was released at €108 per bottle ex-negociant, the same price as the second wines of Margaux and Mouton, the grand vin followed a different path and emerged at €660 per bottle – ten per cent above the first-tranche price of Lafite (which traded today at £12,100 per case). Will Latour follow Haut Brion's lead?
Other notable releases included Angelus (€225), Pavie (€225) and Bellevue Mondotte (€216), all of which carried slight premiums. But it wasn't all bad news for buyers. Leoville Las Cases also joined the floor and, like Ducru Beaucaillou and Cos d'Estournel, the Super Second elected to drop prices this year, releasing its 2010 at €192 per bottle (-11 per cent on 2009).
