Clos des Papes 2022 has been released at £732 per 12×75, flat on the 2021’s price. 

Joe Czerwinski (Wine Advocate) awarded the 2022 an in-barrel range of 97-99 points. In his tasting note, he commented that the wine ‘looks to be a real beauty, capable of aging up to two decades’.   

Jancis Robinson MW scored the 2022 vintage 17.5 points, lower than the 2021, but commented that the wine has a ‘nice balance of richness and power, with energy as well’.   

Clos des Papes 2022 pricing analysis

According to Liv-ex’s ‘Fair Value’ methodology, prices for Clos de Papes are 62% correlated with Wine Advocate scores.   

Looking at the chart above, today’s release is coming to the market well below the regression line, offering a compelling option for buyers. While they have the same 98-point score, today’s release comes at a 44.2% discount to the 2010 vintage.  

There are many other opportunities for buyers to consider such as the 2019 and 2015 vintages, which both fall below the fair value line.  

Other releases 

Clos des Papes Blanc 2022 has also been released for £600 per 12×75. The wine was scored 94 points by Joe Czerwinski (Wine Advocate) and 94 points by Nicolas Greinacher (Vinous).
