Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW rates six 2015s 100-points

In a recent Bordeaux 2015 retrospective for The Wine Independent, Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW awarded six wines a 100-point score, namely the Right Bank estates: Château Ausone, Château Cheval Blanc, Lafleur, Le Pin and Pétrus, and the First Growth Château Haut-Brion. She awarded another three wines 99-points.

Perrotti-Brown said, ‘while a lot of the 2015s are open and gregarious now, they also appear to be aging reasonably slowly’, and the wines ‘may never go through a muted phase’.

As the table above shows, all of Perrotti-Brown’s top-scoring wines have risen in value since release. The best performer has been the 100-point Lafleur, up an impressive 194.7%.

The most affordable of her favourites is the 99-point Château Le Tertre Rôteboeuf, which has a Market Price of £1,750 per case. In her tasting note, Perrotti-Brown advised that ‘fans of this property will not want to miss this vintage,’ which she described as ‘very energetic’ and ‘singularly powerful’.

The 2015 has been the seventh most traded Bordeaux vintage by both value and volume so far this year. Wines from Pomerol (24.0%), Pauillac (21.7%) and Saint-Emilion (15.6%) have led secondary market activity for the vintage.

According to Perrotti-Brown, 2015 ‘kickstarted one of Bordeaux’s longest runs of great years ever’ after a challenging period between 2011 and 2014. She further explained that the vintage was ‘outstanding to extraordinary’ for most of Bordeaux, ‘except for the northern part of the Médoc, where quality is inconsistent’.
