Recent trading activity  

Bordeaux led trade on Tuesday and into Wednesday, with Château Lafite Rothschild 2019, Château Beychevelle 2020 and Château Cos d’Estournel 2019  among the top traded wines by value.  

There was also interest in Italian wines with Produttori del Barbaresco 2018, Giacomo Conterno Vigna Francia Barbera d’Alba 2018, Sassicaia Tenuta San Guido Bolgheri 2019 all changing hands.

Cos d’Estournel 2019 has been one of the top-traded wines by value over the past two days. It last traded at £1,414 per 12×75 case – 6.9% below Market Price (£1,520).  

The best-performing vintages of Cos d’Estournel can be seen in the chart above. The 2010, 2009 and 2019 have seen double digit rises over one year, up 20.4%, 19.0% and 18.9% respectively.   

Although the 2019 has led the estate’s trade over July and the start of August, it is only the fourth most-traded vintage so far this year. The 2018 vintage has been the most traded, followed by the 2009 and 2005.   

Looking at the chart below, the 2016 is the highest-scoring wine. While the 2019 and 2010 have the second-highest scores (97-points).  

The 2010 vintage was last traded at £1,950 per 12×75 case. With live offers for £720 per 6×75 (£1,440 per 12×75) the 2019 is available at a 26% discount.
