As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou 2021 has been released at €32.40 per bottle ex-négociant, up 8% on the 2020’s opening price.

Quantities released are down 50% on last year.

It is being offered by the international trade for £390 per 12×75. Several back vintages look better value in relation to today’s release. See more pricing analysis below.

Critics’ scores

Neal Martin and Antonio Galloni (Vinous) both rated the wine 91-93 points. Martin said it was ‘classic in style’ with ‘fine sapidity’.

The Wine Advocate’s William Kelley scored it 90-92 points, while Jane Anson gave it 92-points.

Fair Value analysis

Prices for La Croix Ducru-Beaucaillou show a stronger correlation to age rather than critic scores. According to Liv-ex’s Fair Value methodology, today’s opening price comes at a significant premium to existing vintages already available in the market.

Buyers looking for value have many other options to choose from. Most notably, the 2019 vintage has a higher score from Neal Martin and is available at a 21% discount to today’s release.

The 2020, 2017, 2013, and 2012 vintages also fall below the trend line and are available below today’s release price.
