Robert Parker also popularised the 100-point scale which many consumers and those in the trade use to this day.
Many of his 100-point wines had suggested drinking dates extending well into the future but some of his earlier scores are now either reaching or are well into their drinking windows.

Late bloomers
Not all of the wines on the list were rated as “perfect” upon first tasting. Léoville Poyferré 2009, for example, was awarded 97-100 in Parker’s initial barrel tasting and only later awarded a perfect 100.
Pape Clément 2010 saw a huge jump from its in-barrel to in-bottle rating. Parker’s initial score was just 93-95+, yet it jumped to 100 when tasted in-bottle. This score was confirmed by Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW in 2020.
