  • Several wines with “perfect” ratings from Robert Parker are available for under £3,000 a dozen and often much less.
  • These include vintages now considered firmly in their drinking windows.
  • Small quantities are currently available on the Exchange.

Robert Parker was a fan of big reds, a style that required time in bottle to reach their peak.

Robert Parker also popularised the 100-point scale which many consumers and those in the trade use to this day.

Many of his 100-point wines had suggested drinking dates extending well into the future but some of his earlier scores are now either reaching or are well into their drinking windows.

The table above highlights the 10 cheapest LIVE offers for wines with 100-points from Parker – all under £3,000 per dozen, several under £2,000 – that are considered ready to drink.

Late bloomers

Not all of the wines on the list were rated as “perfect” upon first tasting. Léoville Poyferré 2009, for example, was awarded 97-100 in Parker’s initial barrel tasting and only later awarded a perfect 100.

Pape Clément 2010 saw a huge jump from its in-barrel to in-bottle rating. Parker’s initial score was just 93-95+, yet it jumped to 100 when tasted in-bottle. This score was confirmed by Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW in 2020.

For followers of Parker, the wines above are high scoring and ready to be opened.

You can find them on your exchange by combining the wine’s LWIN7 with its vintage in the search bar.
