PREMIUM
CONTENT

  • “Deeply impressive and quite profound,” says Neal Martin.
  • The wine is released internationally at £1,872 (12×75).
  • Buyers will find good value in last year’s release but also in the 2010 and 2012.

The 2020 Château La Consteillante has been released for €156 per bottle ex-négociant, up 30% on the 2019 release.

The wine is being offered by the international trade for £1,872 per 12×75, 19.2% more than the current Market Price of the 2019.

The 2019 is also Neal Martin’s highest-scored La Conseillante vintage, and as such, offers very good value for money. See more Fair Value analysis below.

Critical opinion

Today’s release received 96-98 points from Neal Martin (Vinous), who said that “the old ‘iron fist in a velvet glove’ cliché rings true here”.

Antonio Galloni awarded 94-97 points, noting that, “the 2020 La Conseillante is a supremely elegant, restrained wine that shows the continued move toward finesse here”.

James Suckling gave it 98-99 and described it as “a subtle and structured young wine”.

Jane Anson (Decanter) rated it 96-points and Jeb Dunnuck 96-98.

Fair Value

The new 2020 vintage sits in the same group with 2009, 2010 and 2018. The 2010 offers the best value of the lot, with 97-points from Neal Martin and at £1,670 per case.

The 2020 is also priced just below the 2016 vintage, which Martin scored lower.

More affordable vintages that might attract buyers include 2019, 2012 and 2014. The latter received 94-points from Martin and costs less than half the price of the 2020.
