Château Duhart Milon 2020 has been released En Primeur for €55 per bottle ex-négociant, up 14% on the 2019’s opening price.

The wine is being offered by the international trade for £684 per case of 12, which is 9.6% higher than the current Market Price of the 2019.

Given the score from Benchmark Critic Neal Martin, there are several back vintages that appear to offer better value then the 2020. See more Fair Value analysis below.

Critical Opinion

Both Neal Martin and Antonio Galloni at Vinous scored the wine 90-92. Martin said it was, “a slightly fleshier Duhart-Milon compared to the obdurate, tannic wines of yore” and concluded it was “fine, although I would have liked just a tad more grip and heft”.

Galloni, meanwhile, said it was, “wonderfully seductive” and “deftly balances ripeness with energy. It’s a terrific example of the year”.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW of the Wine Advocate rated it 91-93+, saying it “comes skipping out of the glass”. Jane Anson rated it 95-points and James Suckling 95-96.

Fair Value

Duhart-Milon has a high correlation with Wine Advocate scores. Using the Fair Value methodology it’s clear that the 2020 comes in above the regression line, indicating it is a fully priced release.

In view of this release it is interesting to note the value to be found in recent vintages. The 2012, 2014, 2015, 2016, 2018 and 2019 vintages all represent Fair Value.
