Jeb Dunnuck published his annual coverage of the Napa Valley and surrounding areas, scoring more than 1600 wines across 368 producers.

He awarded 28 Napa Valley 2018s a perfect 100 points and gave out nearly 40 99s.

“Unquestionably, Napa has a beautiful vintage on its hands with 2018” is how Jeb Dunnuck started his report. He continued by adding, “while 2018 checks in behind the benchmark vintages of 2013 and 2016, it is in the same ballpark as 2012, 2014, and 2015, all terrific vintages.”

With vintages 2017 and 2020 facing reduced yields and the potential of smoke taint as a result of some devastating wildfires, 2018 offers a welcome break in an increasingly challenging cycle of weather-related events for the region’s growers.

The secondary market has taken note with the 2018 already seeing active trade. Just a month into the year, four of the region’s top 10 most traded wines by value are 2018s, with buyers coming from across the globe.

There are currently 10 active markets of Napa Valley 2018 – doubtless many more to come as the releases unfold. They range from three packs of Eisele Vineyard, Sauvignon Blanc, Napa Valley, 2018 to six packs Realm Cellars, The Bard, Napa Valley, 2018.
