By December 31, 2020Fine Wine Market, Talking trade

Over the past two weeks, we analysed the key themes that shaped the fine wine market in 2020, from the impact of US tariffs to the most traded wines.

During the Christmas period, trade slowed as offices closed and holidays were observed. Bordeaux was impacted the most. The region’s trade share slipped to a record weekly low of 26.7%, bringing its December average to just under 40%.

Burgundy accounted for 24.5% of trade, with red taking 74% of the total. The most traded wine by value from the region was Domaine Leroy, Vosne Romanee Premier Cru Les Beaux Monts 2009.

The ‘Others’ category enjoyed a strong week with its market share almost doubling to 13.3%. Much of this was down to spiritsThe rather rare Macallan Speyside Highland Single Malt Genesis Lalique 72yo made its mark.

A very Happy New Year to you all.
