With movements of last year’s top wines pointing to an exciting Friday.

The Wine Spectator release their Top 10 wines of 2020 this week – starting with number 9 & 10 this afternoon, with the top wine announced on Friday.

Last year, on November 15th, when they announced Leoville Barton 2016 as the top wine of the year, we instantly saw a slew of demand and trades – up to a 22% increase on the pre-announcement price, seen below.

However, it wasn’t just the Wine of the Year that felt the impact.

Number six on the list, Beaucastel, Chateauneuf du Pape 2016, saw a 12% increase in price and Pichon Baron 2016, ranked 10th, attracted buyers.

As for what wine will top the charts this year, your guess is as good as ours but what we do know is that the market will be waiting with bated breath and if last year was anything to go by, prices are likely to move.

The link below will take you to most viewed wines by merchants over the past week, ranked by most page visits. Might there be, buried within, this year’s top wine?
