Inglenook Rubicon 2019 has been released as part of this year’s La Place de Bordeaux autumn campaign.

It is being offered by the international trade for £1,710 per 12×75. It is the most expensive current release but it also has the strongest Wine Advocate score of any vintage going back to 2008. See more pricing analysis below.

Critical response

The 2019 vintage of Rubicon has been widely reviewed by critics. Its highest score was from Jane Anson who gave it 100-points.

She said it was a ‘storming, stonking Napa wine playing at the top of its game in 2019’.

The Wine Advocate gave it 96+ points, with then-reviewer Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW calling it ‘impressive’.

Antonio Galloni at Vinous scored it 95-points, saying it offered a ‘captivating mix of textural intensity and vibrancy’.

Fair value

The 2012, 2014 and 2016 vintages were all rated 95-points by The Wine Advocate, and all offer discounts on today’s release.

The 2018 and 2015, with scores of 94-points, also look good value at present.

On the other hand, while there are many options among back vintages, the 2019 has the best score among the last 12 vintages from The Wine Advocate and it received its glowing review from Jane Anson.

Other releases

The latest vintage of Rubicon was released alongside the estate’s Cabernet Sauvignon 2019 and Blancaneaux 2020.

The two wines are being offered by the international trade for £732 and £552 per dozen respectively.
