  • The 2012 vintage of Dom Pérignon has been released for £1,320 (12×75).
  • A wine of “vinous intensity and raw, unbridled power,” said Antonio Galloni.

The latest vintage of Dom Pérignon, the 2012, has been released internationally for £1,320 per dozen.

Critical opinion

The new vintage has received several high scores from prominent critics and publications. Antonio Galloni at Vinous scored it 97-points, saying he was “almost shocked by its vinous intensity and raw, unbridled power.”

James Suckling also awarded it 97-points, calling it “dense and vibrant”. William Kelley at the Wine Advocate rated it 96-points. He said it was “drier and a touch less reductive than the 2008” but while comparisons between the two were likely, “my instinct is that the 2012 will have the edge in the long term”.

Fair value

The 2012 looks good value versus its back vintages. Its score of 96 from the Wine Advocate is its best since the 2002, which currently has a Market Price of over £2,000.

The 2004 vintage at under £1,500 and with a score of 94 currently looks well-priced among older back vintages.
