  • 2014 is the best-rated and best value “off” vintage.
  • It is the best-performing Bordeaux vintage post-2008.

As we digest the outcome of the 2020 campaign, one fact that has become clear is the excellent value offered by the 2014s.

With an average critical score of 92.6, the 2014s are the best-rated “off” vintage (against peers such as 2008, 2012 and 2017) and with average prices of £1,048 per case (12×75) offer the best value too.

Their prices have risen 34% on average since release, the best performance of any Bordeaux vintage post-2008 – a vintage that was released in the teeth of the Global Financial Crisis.

Several of the Second Growths offer particularly compelling opportunities. Cos d’EstournelDucru-BeaucaillouLéoville Las CasesLéoville Poyferré and Montrose were all rated either 95 or 96-points by Benchmark Critic Neal Martin.

None are priced higher than £1,300 per dozen at the moment and a few under £1,000. Montrose in particular with 96-points was judged one of the stars of the vintage and has a current Market Price of £974 (12×75).
