The value of LIVE offers on Liv-ex surpassed £34million this morning – a new record.
Trade by value and volume also rose this week. Bordeaux’s share improved from a record weekly low 31.4% to 44.9%, led by its 2016, 2014 and 2005 vintages. Champagne, Burgundy and Italy, which were in the trading spotlight last week, saw their shares of trade dip slightly.
The Rhone (7.6%), the USA (5%) and the “others” category (5%) made gains. Australia was particularly active once again, accounting for 4.6% of the total trade.
The most active wines were a rich mix. Guigal, Cote Rotie Mouline 2015 (JD 98-100) took the top spot with a last trade price at £2,942 per 12×75. Penfolds Grange 2015, which was released in the UK last week, placed second. It last traded at £3,850 per case, down 7% on its release price.
Mouton Rothschild and Angelus from the 2016 vintage were the most traded Bordeaux wines.

This week’s releases
