Brisk trade in Haut Brion pushed the Liv-ex Claret Chip Index to a new high of 442.48 on Friday – a change of 1.04 per cent week on week and 3.4 per cent month to date. The week’s top performer was Haut Brion 1995, which increased in value from £3,945 on the 18th of February to £4,382 per 12x75cl case on the 25th (+11 per cent). Lafite 1999 and Latour 2004 also saw keen demand and rose in value by six per cent and eight per cent respectively.

To show how each of the First Growths has fared over the last three calendar months, we have split the index into its component brands and rebased each brand’s index in November 2010. This new chart highlights Haut Brion and Mouton's strong price performance in recent weeks. Lafite, however, has started to lag behind its peers.
