Critics’ scores

Neal Martin (Vinous) scored the wine 91-93. He said he could ‘see this maturing in style’ but thought it ‘might be eclipsed by the 2019 and the 2020 in the long term’.

Antonio Galloni (Vinous) thought this vintage’s Clos Fourtet was ‘very clearly one of the wines of the vintage on the Right Bank’ and rated it 94-96.

The Wine Advocate’s William Kelley rated it 93-95, and Jane Anson 93-points.

Fair Value analysis

As the chart above shows, prices for Clos Fourtet show a stronger correlation to age than critic scores. Buyers looking for value have several options to choose from.

The 2019 vintage, for example, is available at a 14% discount to today’s release and has a higher score of 96-points from Neal Martin.

The 2014, 2013 and 2012 vintages are also cheaper and come with several years in bottle. The 2014, in particular, has a higher score from Martin of 94-points.
