Critical opinion

Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded the wine 95-97 points. He said, “this is a sophisticated Pape Clément in the making, an outstanding wine that should age brilliantly in bottle.”

Antonio Galloni also scored the wine 95-97 points. He said, “the 2020 has tons to offer.”

Lisa Perrotti-Brown MW awarded the wine slightly higher, 96-98 points.  Jeff Leve said, “this is the finest vintage of Pape Clément in years” and gave 95-97 points.

Fair Value

Pape Clément has a high correlation with Wine Advocate critic scores as can be seen in the chart above.

The 2020 Pape Clément had room to increase its prices due to its 97-point critic score from the Wine Advocate.

Nonetheless, today’s release is more expensive than the 2012 and 2019 vintages which have the same score.

The 2018, 2016, 2015 and 2011 also look good value at present.
