Wines from the cellar of the three Michelin-starred Italian restaurant, Enoteca Pinchiorri, were auctioned off on the 12th of September by the US auction house, Zachys. All 864 lots sold for a combined £3.15m – 226 lots set new world records and a resounding 55% of the lots set European records.

The virtual auction set in London attracted bidders from over 20 countries. Christy Erickson, Head of Europe for Zachys said “this auction shows that the fine wine auction industry is still booming and our buyer’s appetite for quality shows no sign of slowing”.

Following the broader market decline during the first quarter of the year, major Liv-ex Indices have posted several months of continuous gains. The bid to offer ratio has also recovered with bids almost double what they were in May.

Those that missed out on the Enoteca Pinchiorri auction may not have missed out completely, over 100 wines that found new homes during the auction also have LIVE offers on Liv-ex. This includes multiple formats of Haut Brion 1989Mouton Rothschild 2000 and Petrus 2009, many with LIVE offers below final auction prices.
