Summary of your feedback on our new website

By August 18, 2019Member updates

In the last two weeks, many of you have contacted us with feedback about our new website or have participated in interviews with our product team. Thank you for taking the time to do this. We are in the process of collating all of your thoughts and working with our developers to map out their priorities for the coming months. Here are some of the key things that you told us.

Many of you welcome the new mobile design, which allows you to place bids and offers on the go. There are a couple of design features that we could tweak, but on the whole you told us that it’s a vast improvement on the original website.

Likewise, the speed of the new website was praised. This is important – we want you to be able to navigate around the Liv-ex website quickly, and to see information about new activity faster than on the old website.

Several of you are concerned about some missing search features, particularly the ability to filter by wines with a live bid or offer. We understand why this is important, and we’ll make sure it’s there before the original site is closed. Some other enhancements, such as looking up multiple wines from the same producer, is already being built. Filtering by condition, region and price might come a little later on, but these are firmly on our radar.

We’re also going to add some new tabs to the All Markets page so that you can see new bids and new offers separately.

The Your Markets page was met with a mixed response. Some of you enjoy the personalised buying and selling opportunities, but suggested that there is room for to make them more relevant. We’re going to work on improving those algorithms.

The bid list function has also divided opinion. Some of you appreciate the opportunity to view £177m+ of extra wine and nudge sellers to list it. You’ll be pleased to see it added to the wine pages soon. On the other hand, many of you value Liv-ex because all offers are firm commitments to sell – and that’s all you want to see. In future, we’ll look at giving you the option to switch bid list on or off.

There were some requests for the charting tool to stay, so we’re going to look at how we can make it available to those that need it. Likewise, we need to make sure you have access to all of the relevant logistics information.

If you would like to see more information (lines of bids/offers) on each page, can we suggest that you try to compact view? Just click on your name on the top right-hand side of the screen and switch it on. We’re considering whether to reduce the white space further, but for now, this will help you.

If you have thoughts on the new site and haven’t spoken to us yet, we’re still listening. You can either submit it online using the feedback formor contact our friendly team.

In the coming weeks, we’ll be in touch again with more information on timing. The most important features will become available before the old site is closed off; others may take a little longer. To learn more about the features mentioned, visit our help page.

As always, your Account Manager is available to answer any questions.
