Bordeaux 2009 most traded

The 2009 en primeur campaign has finally drawn to a close, with many merchants having reported record levels of sales this year (in value if not in volume). With this in mind, we thought it was time to have a look at the chateaux that have dominated Bordeaux 2009 trade on the exchange. The tables below show the top ten wines by value and the top ten by volume.

Of the First Growths, only Margaux failed to make an appearance in either table. Lafite, on the other hand, was once again one of the most sought-after chateau of the campaign, coming up trumps by value. Pontet Canet also made a strong impact, placing first by volume and second by value. Other wines that worked included Duhart Milon, Lynch Bages, Carruades de Lafite and Montrose – all of which made their way into both top tens.

Be sure to read the forthcoming July Market Report for a full analysis of what has been one of the most expensive en primeur campaigns to date.
