These five resources contain everything you need to start using the common language for wine and spirits.

1. Understand LWIN

Our short guide to LWIN shows you what LWIN is, how it works, and how you can use it in your business – for free.

If you’d like to explore the idea of using LWIN, it’s the best place to start.

2. Get our guide to implementation

The implementation guide is like a manual for using LWIN. It tells you everything you need to do to bring LWIN into your system, step by step.

3. Match your list to LWIN in minutes

Adding LWINs to your set of wines is fast and easy with Wine Matcher. It’s an online tool that reads and standardises Excel lists automatically.

You can access it free for one week, which is plenty of time to match even the longest lists.

4. Download the database

The LWIN database is the world’s biggest open-source database for wine and spirits. It contains detailed geographic, colour and classification information. It’s free to download, and always will be.

5. Connect & automate (optional)

Using APIs to get LWIN automatically has a number of advantages. You’ll no longer need to update LWIN automatically, and you’ll get:

  1. Vintage-accurate wine names
  2. Valid vintages values (skipped vintages are excluded)
  3. First and final vintages of production (where applicable)

Plus, once you have LWIN in your system, automation is much easier. That means you can take advantage of opportunities to price, source and sell wine instantly.

“Liv-ex has made a significant contribution to the world of fine wine by championing its LWIN unique identifiers for fine wines.”
