Smith Haut Lafitte 2019 released

Smith Haut Lafitte 2019 has been released at €64.8 per bottle ex-négociant, down 20.5% from the 2018 release (€81.5). The wine is being offered by the international trade at £813 per 12×75, a 16.9% decrease on the 2018 opening price of £978 per case.

The wine comes with a recommended international selling price of 660 HKD, 82.3 CHF and 85.17 USD, per bottle.

Neal Martin of Vinous awarded the wine a barrel range of 96-98, noting the wine is “very elegant and refined, this is an outstanding success for winemaker Fabien Teitgen and his team”. Antonio Galloni of Vinous, gave it a 94-96.

Lisa Perrotti-Brown awarded the wine (96-98)+. James Suckling gave a 96-97.

Prices for Smith Haut Lafitte have an 86% correlation to the ‘Benchmark Critic’ scores.

Today’s release comes to the market at the same price as the equally scored 2016 vintage. Falling beneath the line, both wines offer fair value, similarly, just two points shy is 2012, which buyers may also consider.

Smith Haut Lafitte Blanc 2019 also released, at €75.6 per bottle ex-négociant, down 8.7% from the 2018 release (€82.8).
