Pape Clement 2016 has been released at €66 per bottle ex-negociant, up 12.2% on the 2015 release price of €58.8. It is being offered by the international trade for £790 per 12×75. This places it above the other five most recent vintages, but represents a significant discount on 2005, 2009 and 2010.

A number of critics have been positive in their reviews of Pape Clement 2016. James Suckling awarded the wine 97-98 points and said the wine was “truly great. What a barrel sample”. Neal Martin commented that the wine “continues Pape-Clement/Bernard Margrez’ move towards a more classic style compared to the previous decade” and awarded 95-97 points.

For buyers looking for relative value, the 2012 might look appealing. The wine scored 97 points, has several years in bottle and is available at an 11.5% discount to the 2016. However, for those confident in the quality of the 2016, the wine looks attractive at around half the price of the 2005.

Pape Clement Blanc 2016 was also released today at €108 per bottle ex-negociant, up 15.4% on the 2015 release price of €93.60. It is being offered by the international trade between £1,200 and £1,300 per 12×75.
