Bordeaux dominated trading this week, accounting for 44.3% of total traded value as buyers gravitated towards the region’s top recent vintages. US demand remained a key driver, with American buyers responsible for 50.9% of Bordeaux trade by value, particularly in the 2009, 2016, 2020 and 2022 vintages.

Burgundy retained second place but saw its share of trade fall to 21.6%, from 28.2% the week before. The region’s activity was led by Domaine de la Romanée-Conti and Jean-Claude Ramonet, which together represented more than a third of Burgundy trade.

In Champagne, trading volumes fell, with the region’s share slipping to 7.8%. Following the passing of Yayoi Kusama, Veuve Cliquot – who partnered with the artist for their 2012 vintage – saw higher demand, accounting for 23.1% of the region’s trade.

Among Italy’s leading regions, Piedmont edged ahead of Tuscany by traded value. Gaja and Giacomo Conterno were the region’s principal drivers of activity, while San Guido led trading in Tuscany.
