As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Malescot St. Exupéry 2022 has been released at €45 per bottle ex-négociant, up 21.0% on the 2021 release (€37.20).

It is being offered by the international trade for £540 per 12×75, a 21.6% increase on the 2021’s opening price (£444 a case).

Critics’ scores

Neal Martin (Vinous) awarded it a barrel range of 93-95 points, calling it a ‘precision-tooled Margaux’ and speculating that it will give ’20 to 30 years of drinking pleasure’.

‘Lingering and very polished’ said James Suckling, who gave it a 96-97 points. He highlighted the ‘deep and balanced’ profile, underscoring the ‘attractive dark-berry character’.

William Kelley (Wine Advocate) scored it at a 93-95 points, calling it ‘one of the appellation’s most flamboyant wines’.

Fair Value analysis
