Château Langoa Barton 2022 released En Primeur

  • Château Langoa Barton has been released for £428 per 12×75.
  • William Kelley scored the wine 93-95+ points, while James Suckling awarded it 96-97 points.
  • Buyers looking for value might want to consider the 2019 and 2020 vintages.

As part of this year’s Bordeaux En Primeur campaign, Château Langoa Barton 2022 has been released at €34 per bottle ex-négociant, up 15.6% on the 2021 release (€29.40).

It is being offered by the international trade for £428 per 12×75, a 20.9% increase on the 2021’s opening price (£354 per case). Production at the estate was down 30% compared to the previous year.

At this price, the 2019 and 2020 vintages might offer better value than the new release. See more pricing analysis below.

Critics’ scores

Neal Martin (Vinous) has not yet released his 2022 scores, but William Kelley (Wine Advocate) has scored the wine a barrel range of 93-95+ points, calling it ‘polished and penetrating’. The critic also predicted it ‘should match or even surpass the 2019 and 2016 vintages’ and calls it ‘one of the most intelligent purchases of the en primeur campaign’.

James Suckling gave it a barrel range of 96-97 points. In his tasting note he said that it was a ‘big wine’ with ‘depth and structure’.

Fair Value analysis

Buyers looking for value may want to consider the 2019 and 2020 vintages, which were awarded 94 and 93 points by Neal Martin respectively and are available at discounts to today’s release.

With 93 points from the critic, the 2017 and 2021 vintages also look attractive.
